There it is; my largest work so far. It was great fun experimenting with a complicated background.

really amazing , btw, could i ask what did you use for the darkest black accents, i have tried with some mediums but they look hard to blend into graphite ( especially when i put them on many graphite layers ), at those areas, they look stand out graphite, too much shiny or duty...thanks
Ah man, I can never understand how to convincingly draw blurred background. Yours is just perfect! Do you have any tips and/or tricks?
Thank you! I use tissues to blend these areas, but in order to blend it smooth, you'll need to draw really stripeless as well. Also it helps to use a very soft pencil (6B to 8B) and use that for the blurry areas, because it can be blended much easier than a harder pencil.
Heerlijk, you've done an amazing job. That hair in particular is fantastic, so real looking, and I like how it gradually fades out of focus. Fantastic gloss effect on the back of the chair, too. I'm doing my best to learn how to achieve realism in my drawings and pictures like yours are very inspiring.
Ah Danke! I am very glad to hear that you are inspired by my works! You will get there, just keep practicing. Just remember to really look at what you are drawing. I mean REALLY look, try to become the subject.
Thank you for the suggestion. At the moment I'm stuck really looking at hair and trying to figure out how to use my pencil to re-create it on paper. I'll... uh... try to become the hair! Looking at pictures like yours helps remind me that it's possible. Somehow.
Oh hair, I love drawing hair, but only because I have this little fellow; Tombow Mono Zero eraser. It's a MUST if you want to maximise the realism of hair!
I got this little baby last week and I must say it makes a big difference indeed! The amount of control and precision on fine detail highlights is incredible. Though I must admit that with my first time using the Mono Zero I cheated a bit by choosing an image that's very dark, so I only had a few highlights of hair to do. Now I have to learn to use it for real in normal light.
Supergaaf! De glans in het haar, de stoel, de achtergond.. Verbluffend mooi
Ah super bedankt voor alle complimenten! Ik zag dat je hier nog maar kort op zit, dus welkom op Deviantart.
I really appreciate the clouding of the background. It adds to its photorealistic quality and focuses on your wonderfully rendered subject. Well done!!!
Are you even a real person or a magic craft? haha...more than amazing!
Haha I pretty sure that am a real person, although it could be that I have been dipped into a pot of elixir when I was a baby, because my memory doesn't go back that far. Haha, thank you so much!
Still sneaking around your work here ... and I must say it's unbelievable In general, but this piece catches my eye. It's incredible how you work with the sharp / unsharp contrast here ... I'm amazed, very well done!
soooo goooood. the texture in the wood/her shirt. Can't praise you enough, such awesome work.
Thank you so much Justin! That is really kind of you! I have looked at your work, and I am quite impressed, so I gave you a little watch.
Woooow! ^u^ Mate, it's A-MA-ZING! That realism, shading... *.*
I can't get over how incredible this is. The chair even has little screatches on it!? Oh my goodness.
Haha thank you so much for this and watching me! Yes it's all in there!
Those details are stunning.
Ah je bent gewoon Nederlands! Dankjewel voor je complimenten!!
Exquisite, especially the textures of wood, hair and cloth compared to the background. Was this copied or is it your own composition using references?
I make my own photo's with models and in this particular case I combined two reference photo's; the model on the chair and the background picture. I use these pictures mainly for proportions and from there I work pretty freely, inventing my own details and blurrings. Thank you for the compliments!
